Poisonous Plants & Other Dangers

Many plants are toxic to cats, with symptoms ranging from mild to severe, some harmful enough to cause fatality. Cats will often eat grass/plants to help aid in digestion. If you have an indoor cat it is a good idea to provide them with cat grass. It may help keep them away from your other plants, but to be safe it is best to remove unsafe plants from your home all together.
Some of the common symptoms of plant toxicity in cats are:

•Vomiting
•Diarrhea
•Abdominal pain
•Mouth irritation
•Excessive salivation
•Respiratory, breathing problems

If you think your cat may have eaten a toxic plant, you should call your veterinarian for treatment. If you know the type of plants your cat may have come in contact with, let your veterinarian know to help them make an accurate diagnosis.
